The most special cake ever.

On Wednesday Oliver wanted to make a cake for his dad.

Me: Why do you want to make a cake for dad? It's not his birthday yet?

Oliver: How about we make a cake just to celebrate dad.

Me: Okay, I think that's a great idea, but tonight is not a good night. I have to work. How about Friday?

Oliver: Okay.

Oliver remembered on Friday. We made a box cake and used store bought frosting and had a lot of fun doing it. Since it was not for a special occasion where a lot of people would see it I decided to let them go to town. There was frosting and sprinkles everywhere, and a lot went straight into our mouths.

As we were finishing up and I got most of the sprinkles and frosting off their hands I began to understand what a cool thing we had going. I should also add that Oliver doesn't even like cake so I knew that his mission was not completely selfish. I say completely selfish because I know he does enjoy baking with me. To say that I am proud of Oliver for wanting to do such a special thing for his dad is an understatement. You should have seen how excited he was when Tim pulled into the garage. He wanted me to turn off all the lights and he hid the cake on the stove.

When Tim came in Oliver yelled "Surprise! We made you a cake". Tim was very confused as it was not is birthday or even Father's day "Why did you make me a cake?" Oliver replied, "Because we wanted to celebrate you". I was tearing up by then. Tim is a great dad and very much deserves celebrating. He is an awesome dad and I could not ask for a better husband.

Why did I think this was not a special occasion and why would I not want anyone to see our "messy" cake? I think it's the most beautiful (and especially yummy) cake in the world. I'm very proud of you my sweet little boy. May your heart always be this big and may you always find something to celebrate.

OMG, I'm pregnant!

For some reason it took along time for me to let my guard down with this pregnancy. It may be because I have known more moms to have experienced a miscarriage or maybe because they were unable to hear the heartbeat at my 11 week appointment (an ultrasound later that day found that the baby was in fact okay, but I never got to hear the heartbeat). I'm not sure why. I had my 16 week appointment yesterday. They found the heartbeat right away and it sounded great. For some reason, that is all I needed. I have been on edge for the past 16 weeks, but I'm willing to accept it now. I'm wearing maternity clothes and added my due date to my name tag at ECFE. I'm going to have another baby. wow.

Santa at Choo Choo Bob's

Santa makes a stop Choo Choo Bob's every year. It's always on a Sunday so I am never able to go because I'm at work. But Tim has faithfully brought the kids for the past 2 years. This is as close as Oliver got last year and Amelia did not even get that far. Notice the nice outfit and nicely combed hair.

This year they both sat on Santa's lap. I was shocked. I did not think they were actually going to make it up there. Notice the hair and outfits this year. Despite the hair and clothes I think this is one of the most precious pictures I have of the kids.

My Dynamic Duo

Here is Halloween 2009. Oliver is Super Oliver and Ameila is supposed to be a lady bug. She was very jealous of Oliver's mask and cape so I made a second set for her thinking she would be over it by Halloween. Boy was I wrong. She was so proud of that mask and cape. She would barely take them off. So, Amelia went as Super Ladybug. She even won a costume contest at the Lee's Halloween party. Oliver did not enjoy dressing up as much. He gets that from me. He did end up wearing the whole costume Halloween night, mask and all. We had a great time.
